MIXED-USE DEVELOPMENT

LOW PETERGATE, YORK

This complex of abandoned buildings in the historic centre of York has been remodelled to provide a mixed use residential and commercial scheme.  The site lies in a conservation area and the setting of York Minster, and other ancient monuments and statutorily listed buildings.  The completed development gained an RICS Pro-Yorkshire Outstanding Achievement Award and Conservation Award.

New buildings were integrated into the historic environment and two structures dating from C17 and C18 and designated Grade II* were converted to shops, restaurant and apartments. The new buildings are designed around a courtyard and parterre garden and each of the historic buildings has been restored using construction methods and materials appropriate to their period.
