The extensive remodelling of a city centre block provides retailing, catering and hotel uses within the shell of a C19 building. A new split level shopping arcade links the main frontages. The historic facades, which are prominent features in the conservation area, have been retained and refurbished.
The arcade provides separate entrances to the 112-bedroom hotel, restaurant, gastro pub and conference and banqueting suite in a newly converted central core. The lower levels of the building have been reconstructed to provide buffer areas and storage space, and the roof is designed to accommodate hidden external plant.
