This estate was created at the turn of C19 on the Suffolk coast with a large and elaborate manor house, stables, formal gardens, parkland and a man-made cliff walk. Its significance as one of the late country estates is supplemented by its importance as an RAF base in WW II where radar was developed.
The transformation of the estate as an outdoor education centre for school groups has required conversion works to Grade II and II* listed buildings to provide residential, teaching and catering accommodation and the integration of activity equipment into the Grade II registered park & garden.
